How ARP Wave Works

How the ARP Wave works…

IMG_2458The ARP Wave machine is the invention of Denis Thompson, an exercise physiologist based in Burnsville, Minn. Denis was not happy with the way traditional methods used to treat and train athletes were being used because they were essentially ignoring the control system of the body… the nervous system. Traditional methods were fixated on treating the symptoms of an injury or ailment instead of the actual causative factors.

The ARP device was designed to go after the cause of the injury by stimulating both the peripheral and central nervous systems. This stimulation in turn allows the body to identify and heal the injured tissues. The human nervous system heals and learns through strength of stimulation and repetition. The ARP device provides both of these during the performance of its unique protocols.

The ARP device is not your standard electrical muscle stimulation unit. Not even close. The key to the ARP’s uniquess is it’s specific waveform which allows for the resultant current to penetrate deep within the tissues being treated through a combination of differing frequencies, duty cycles, and outbursts. Also unique to the ARP device is the ability to put the patient in motion during the treatment protocol without tetanus (“spasm” of the muscle), for advancement of neuromuscular reeducation.

The main advantage of the ARP device is the way it works in a harmonious nature with the body’s nervous system so as not signal the nervous system to protect by concentrically contracting muscle during treatments. This effectively reduces the pain-guarding-pain reflex. Patient improvement is often noticed following the very first treatment.

The ARP is a Class 2 medical device which the FDA has authorized for the following uses:

  • Muscle Re-education
  • Relaxation of muscle spasms
  • Increased local blood circulation
  • Prevention and retardation of disuse atrophy
  • Maintaining and increasing range of motion
  • Eliminating compensation patterns
  • Reducing pain in affected muscles
  • Shown to speed up healing
  • Quickly builds muscle strength
  • Designed to increase muscles ability to absorb force and prevent muscle related injury.

-Federal law restricts the sale of the ARP by or on the order of a physician, dentist, or practitioner licensed under the state law to use or order the use of the ARP. A prescription for the ARP can be obtained from our community of medical practitioners. The ARP is FDA authorized for the following uses: · Muscle Reeducation: Eliminating compensation patterns · Relaxation of muscle spasms: Reducing pain in the affected muscles · Increased local blood circulation: Shown to speed up healing · Prevention and retardation of disuse atrophy: Quickly builds muscle strength · Maintaining and increasing range of motion: Designed to increase your muscles ability to absorb force and prevent muscle related injury.-
